MONETT MOTOR SPEEDWAY READY FOR 2025 UNDER NEW OWNERSHIP

The next chapter in the long history of Monett Motor Speedway is poised to unfold in 2025 as a new owner is poised to steer the historic southwest Missouri dirt track into its 55th season.
Steve Andrews purchased the speedway after leasing it last season. He plans some facility improvements with multiple special events in addition to weekly racing moving to Friday nights at the track known as the “Grand Ol’ Lady” of dirt racing.

“We’re looking forward to building upon the great history and tradition of Monett Motor Speedway,” Andrews said, noting that Jeff Ogle, who promoted the track on a weekly basis in 2024 will return in that role.

Capital improvement projects coming to the speedway include 150 loads of clay for the track surface, a concession stand remodel, replacement of the announcer’s booth/scoring tower, an updated tech area and updated pit entrance.

Dan Robinson, a former RPM National Auto Racing Promoter of the Year during a stint as General Manager at Lucas Oil Speedway, has been hired as a transformation consultant.

Andrews said that going to a Friday-night schedule will avoid the issue of fans & drivers having to go to work on Monday mornings after attending Sunday-night races.

Weekly racing classes will be B-Mods, Midwest Mods, Pure Stocks, INEX Legends and Bombers. A-Modifieds and ULRA Late Models will appear as rotating classes. Class sanctions will be announced shortly.

The preliminary season schedule is set with a season opener April 4th . Some special events have been set:
• May 2: 4-State Dirt Late Model (formerly Cash Money Series)
• June 27-28: Larry Phillips Memorial featuring the USRA Modifieds
• Aug. 8 – POWRi Revival Dirt Late Model Series.
• Aug. 29 – POWRi 410 Outlaw Wing Sprint Cars.
Andrews said the speedway team also is working to finalize a Demolition Derby, Tractor Pull, Monster Trucks an Enduro event as well as the Josh Essary Memorial Race.

Monett Motor Speedway opened in 1970 and is believed to be the longest continually running dirt track in Missouri. To help commemorate the 55th season, Andrews said that any fan who’s 55 years old will (with ID) receive free admission any week that they are 55.

Slagle finally sold it? Wow. Hope he didn’t get ripped too bad. Glad to hear it will keep on racing and be there for the fans and racers. Now said fans and racers need to get out there and support Steve Andrews. Thanks to Steve Andrews for keeping it going.
