Mac Daddy Michael McCormack shines the field on a wet and damp gloomy day to claim the Midwest Sheet Metal Company 417 OKA Shootout – Finals “Presented by Show-Me Dent Co

29 of the best in the midwest all came together Twister Alley Raceway for the 10th and final round of the season. With a wet and damp day thay gave a constant mist and drizzle thru out the afternoon, Mother nature gave us unfavorable conditions. Track promoter, Chip Abramovitz worked his tail off the last two days, giving us the best track we could have which gave the fans plenty of action.

Two different point battles came down to the last race. A few different scenarios could shake up the standings Point leader, Casey Mooneyham holding onto a 12 point lead. Lake Mooneyham needing a win and a 7th or worse finish from Casey or to just finish 7 spots ahead. 3rd and 4th place drivers of Morgan and McCormack just separated by 4 points. Giving McCormack needing a win and in Morgan to finish 3rd or worse, or McCormack to finish 3 spots better.

Springfield, Missouri ace Zachary Evans on the Show-Me Dirt pole brought the field to Green for the first time ever at Twister Alley, with Kaeden Cornell on his outside the duo stayed door-to-door on lap 1. Evans took command on lap 2. But racing was brought to a halt early with hometown favorite 19 of @James Smith getting collected in a pile up and turn 4 with Miller Rountree. Both having enough damage to end their day. With the weather setting in with the constant drizzle and hitting hard during the caution it forced officials to pack the track and have a 5-6 lap hot lap session to burn the Track back in. With that, bad fortune for 62 @Luke Sanders during that time
Who was running in the top 5 went Pit side with a broken rear bumper. Just as the field was about to go green, @Randy Morgan slows on the back stretch with mechanical issues himself ending his day.
Now that the field was set, officials was forced to go single file restarts. Evans, Cornell, @David McCormack, @Robby Morisset, Lake Mooneyham the top five. Evan‘s out front and in command setting a fast torrid pace laps 2-13. Lap 13 caution waves, this time for 3rd running David McCormack. That bunched the field up again with Evans, Cornell, Mike McCormack, Lake Mooneyham, Morisset. On the restart Evans takes off again out front, but Cornell stays hot on his heels and slips past Evans and turns 1/2 to lead lap 17. Cornell now setting the pace, but 3 laps later Evans pulls the same pass on Cornell going into turn 1 to take the lead back on lap 20. Disaster strikes for the two front runners on lap 21 as the leader Evans breaks a left front and snaps him sideways with second running Cornell nowhere to go. With the 50 kart spun backwards and facing the field in the wrong direction, by 417 0KA rules he’s part of the Yellow sending him to the tail of the field. Giving the lead to the 89 of Mike McCormack, Lake Mooneyham, Morisset, and now Casey Mooneyham and @John Ferrell to the top 5 with a four lap shootout to the finish. McCormack launches out of the gate like a rocket ship, pulls away and set sail on the field. Crossing the finish line a full straight away ahead, and sending him to Icon Graphics and Apparel Victoy Lane Lake Mooneyham 2nd, Robby Morisset 3rd, Casey Mooneyham 4th and John Ferrell finishing 5th.
