Our second daily spotlight comes from Haughton, LA. He is a photographer and a crew chief. This man does it all. Please let me introduce, Joshua Sharpley.
Joshua Sharpley started his love affair with dirt track racing when he was eight years old. His uncle brought him along to a race in 1993, and he had the chance to meet Shelby Scott – Joshua’s childhood hero. That night, Scott beat the fastest car on the track, but at the finish line, another driver crashed into him and put him on the fence. Despite the incident, Joshua was hooked in that moment, igniting a lifelong passion for dirt track racing.
Although Joshua has always wanted to race, he has only had a few opportunities to be behind the wheel. However, that hasn’t stopped him from immersing himself in the world of racing. He has worked at several tracks, including Monett Raceway as a photographer and helping out where he can. He currently resides in Strafford, Missouri, and works as a service writer at Import Car Service, where he gets to spend quality time with friends.
In addition to his love for dirt track racing and mechanics, Joshua is a devoted family man who enjoys spending time with his two pups, Sadie and Teagan, and three children. When he’s not working at the service center or taking pictures, he helps his best friend with the Unforgotten Heroes Foundation, and on the Unforgotten Heroes Foundation B-Mod.
Joshua’s favorite movie is a difficult pick because of his big heart for films, yet, among his favorites are Cars, Days of Thunder, Phantom of the Opera, and Venom. In his downtime, Joshua also likes playing Fallout 4 and Skyrim, finding solace in gaming to relax.
A life-changing year in 2022 has motivated Joshua to prioritize his mental and physical health more and enjoy the small pleasures every day. He has plans for racing his 1975 Chevy Monza and is optimistic he will get behind its wheel and experience the thrill of racing once again.
Joshua’s family members, including his mom and dad, the love of his life, and his Uncle Rick, are his biggest inspirations, driving him on to make a positive impact and unique contributions to the sport he loves.
To inspire others, Joshua shares his words, “Life’s a Garden, DIG IT,” reminding everyone to keep pushing forward and making the most out of life while striving towards your goals and passions. Joshua Sharpley’s journey epitomizes grit and determination and serves as evidence of how far passion and hard work can take you.
